This painting is inspired by a Jester Cone bush or Leucadendron salignum x laureolum that grows in my garden. The cone bush gives a striking impression with its brilliant red flush of deep red bracts that surround the cone like flowers. The narrow leaves are painted in bold, broad brushstrokes to create a blend of green, red and creamy yellow in an intricate whole. The pattern on the leaves draw you in for a closer look to get lost in the chaotic brush strokes and colors that seem messy close-up yet forms a pleasant whole. The cone bush filling the whole canvas in its abundance.
