The Chestnut-banded Plover is identified by its iconic chestnut coloured band. It breeds along saline waterbodies and wetlands, mostly along Southern Africa’s west coast. Its nest is a small, round scrape in the ground sometimes lined with pebbles. It has been recorded that Chestnut-banded Plovers may wet their bellies to cool down their eggs during hot weather.
