I love complex patterns on ceramic ware, especially Delft. To me there is beauty in things that are not whole, for neither are we – each one of us is broken- does that make us less beautiful? I don’t think so and therefore love the Japanese concept of Kintsugi.
Imagine finding a broken pattern on a fragment of china and wondering how the rest of that pattern may have looked like, yet, the piece in your hand is nonetheless beautiful.
” … and she always had a way with her brokenness. She would take her pieces and make them beautiful.”
